Students from Prior Park College recently spent a week in Romania helping charity People Against Poverty.
19 U5 students gave up their first week of their school holidays to volunteer their time helping the charity.
Students worked alongside Romanians to build chicken coops and a poly tunnel. These will be used to provide food for after-school children’s clubs and an orphanage development.
It is hoped that a future farm on another site may be able to provide employment for some of the gypsy population, and income to support various programs.
At the end of the trip the students spent a night at a mountain hut, seeing some of the amazing sites that Romania has to offer.
