Law firm Royds Withy King has raised £23,361 for Dorothy House Hospice Care, which provides palliative and end of life care to people living in Bath and North East Somerset, Wiltshire and Somerset.
Lawyers and staff from the Bath office of the UK Top 100 law firm threw themselves into fundraising for the local charity, including taking part in the Bath Half Marathon, organising monthly dress down days, putting on an auction of promises, raffles and a sponsored cycle ride from Bath to Paris.
Nicola Cutler, who is the charities co-ordinator at Royds Withy King in Bath, said: “We have had an incredibly rewarding two years raising funds for Dorothy House Hospice Care during a very special time for the charity as they celebrated their 40th anniversary. We have learnt so much about the amazing work that the charity does in our community for so many people and without the support of volunteers and fundraisers this could not be done.”
Every two years, lawyers and staff from Royds Withy King vote for local charities to benefit from their fundraising activities, volunteering and practical support. In 2015 – 17, the firm raised a total of £67,705.53 for three charities, including Dorothy House.
Commenting on the donation, Henrietta Beard, corporate fundraiser at Dorothy House Hospice Care, said: “We are immensely grateful for the support from the dynamic team at Royds Withy King. In the last two years, they have donated a truly impressive sum which will be a substantial help to the Hospice and our patients.”
The charity chosen by staff at Royds Withy King’s Bath office for the next two years, 2017 – 2019, is Bath Mind which works to improve the lives of people with mental health issues.
