Rather than having to drag your weary looking Christmas tree to the recycling centre, or leaving it outside your house waiting for the bin collectors to take it away, you could use Dorothy House Hospice Care’s first ever Christmas tree recycling scheme this year.
Dorothy House supporters and volunteers can pick up your old Christmas tree on either 7 or 8 January 2017 in Bath, (BA1 postcodes only) Frome, Westbury, Bradford on Avon, Trowbridge and Corsham.
This is a free service, but Dorothy House asks for a small donation to help fund the specialist palliative and end of life care services provided by the hospice.
To take part, visit: charityxmastreecollection.com, check your postcode is included in the collection radius, donate and book your slot for your tree to be collected.
All sized trees can be chipped and shredded to make valuable reusable materials for the community and trees can be collected from businesses, schools and churches as well as homes.
Dorothy House is launching this scheme in partnership with the Justhelping charity. In 2016 the Justhelping charity collected almost 8,000 trees in 18 towns across the UK and raised nearly £83,000 for hospices and other charities with christmas tree collections.
This year Dorothy House joins the fundraising project and is supported by Rygor in Westbury, a dealer group for Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles who are providing vehicles and volunteers and Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) in Melksham who are supplying tree chippers, vehicles and volunteers.
