From 2 November Bath Society of Artists’ Annual Exhibition goes online for the first time in its 115- year history, giving art-lovers the chance to browse and buy from home.
The selling exhibition is usually held at the Victoria Art Gallery, which is currently closed due to Covid-19 restrictions and will reopen on 29 March 2021.
Art enthusiasts will be able to view and buy a selection of fabulous works by mainly local artists, at prices to suit every pocket. The virtual exhibition will be online from Monday 2 November 2020 to Sunday 3 January 2021 at victoriagal.org.uk/bathsociety2020.
This hugely popular exhibition showcases the best of the region’s artistic talent. Any artist aged 18 or over can submit work for possible selection This year nearly 700 entries were submitted online for selection by a panel, with more than 290 being chosen.
All of the artworks are for sale and exhibits include paintings, sculpture, drawings, prints and mixed media.
Bath Society of Artists was founded in 1904 with 26 members. It has grown over the years to a membership of about 120 diverse artists. Many distinguished 20th-century painters have exhibited with the Society including Walter Sickert, John Singer Sargent, Philip Wilson Steer, Gilbert Spencer, Patrick Heron, Mary Fedden, William Scott and Howard Hodgkin.
