The Bird, Bath on Pulteney Road is to open a new Christmas Tavern for the city on Thursday 28 November, to coincide with the opening of the Bath Christmas Market.
A more grown-up take on last year’s Winter Wonderland setting, the relaxed festive retreat will be the place to gather with family and friends; you can enjoy afternoon tea or drop in for food and drinks and plenty of Christmas cheer.
A celebration of the best of the season, complete with tree-lined walkways and snow-capped mountain scenes, the focal point of the log-cabin style venue will be a cosy wood burner with vast fireplace surround, laden with decorations and twinkling fairy lights.
The festive food offering will range from seasonal snacks – think turkey and cranberry sausage rolls and creamy parsnip soup – to Christmas afternoon teas, sourdough pizzas and sweet treats such as warm mince pies with Bailey’s cream and churros with spiced cinnamon sugar, while cocktails will take their cue from the classics with a Christmassy twist.
There’ll also be cocktail sharers (served in the likes of Christmas puddings, giant martini glasses and disco balls) as well as local beers and ciders, fine wines and plenty of soft drink options too. With various bars serving everything from warming hot chocolate to mulled drinks, there’ll be no shortage of Christmas cheer on offer.
As
well as special join-a-party nights and the option to hire the venue for a
private party, there’s a Faulty Towers
dining experience planned for the 2 December, a fondue lunch party in the diary
for the 12 December, Christmas Day lunch and a New Year’s Eve Birdhouse party
with cocktails, a three-course dinner with wine, DJ and dancing into the early
hours, to see out the festive season
in style.
“We could have stuck with the same theme, but we really wanted to change a few things with last year’s concept,” said The Bird’s owner, Ian Taylor. “Giving locals and visitors something new for 2019 keeps it fun and exciting for everyone, and this year’s Christmas Tavern will be cosy and relaxed, while still going all out on the festive décor. We’ve got some statement features in the plans and we can’t wait for people to see it all come together, whether they’re visiting for Christmas afternoon tea, a few festive drinks or have booked one of our special party nights. We hope people will come along with family and friends to experience this year’s festive pop up for themselves.”
The Christmas Tavern is open from 28 November to 31 December – and is open to all every day, from 12-10pm, with a few exceptions – so bring your flock!
